The Cassopolis Vigilant has launched a program to introduce its community's school children to their hometown newspaper.
Angela Bassett, who is director of marketing for Leader Publications, is organizing a Newspapers in Education (NIE) curriculum for the Cassopolis Vigilant.
Through it, sponsorships purchased by a number of Cassopolis area businesses and organizations will provide copies of the Cassopolis Vigilant to teachers here who have requested to receive the newspaper to use as a teaching tool in their classrooms.
The newspaper does not generate a profit from the Newspaper in Education program, but sponsorships are sought to help defray the production costs.
