NILES -- The Niles Daily Star has launched a program to introduce its community's school children to their hometown, daily newspaper.
Angela Bassett is organizing a Newspapers in Education (NIE) curriculum for the Niles Daily Star. Through it, sponsorships purchased by a number of Niles area businesses and organizations will provide copies of the Niles Daily Star to teachers here who have requested to receive the newspaper to use as a teaching tool in their classrooms.
The newspaper does not generate a profit from the Newspaper in Education program, but sponsorships are sought to help defray the production costs.
