Chiefs finish 14th

Mattawan captured the Big-16 Conference Golf Tournament on Monday as it shot 329 for a combined score of 644.
Monday tournament at Thornapple Creek was the second of two days of competition for Big-16 Conference schools. The first tournament was held Sept. 8.
Kalamazoo Central finished second with a two-day total of 645. Portage Central was third at 650.
The West Division schools of St. Joseph, Lakeshore, Niles and Dowagiac finished 11, 12, 13 and 14th respectively.
Niles shot 358 on Monday for a two-day total of 695. Dowagiac shot 366 on Monday for a total of 717.
Niles' Ben Landgraf shot a 79 at Thornapple Creek to finish second overall as an individual. The Vikings also got a 87 from Matt Molnar, a 89 from Josh Flock, a 103 from Chris Haas, a 104 from Daren Martin and a 110 from Scott Majerek.
Dowagiac was led by David Maxey, who shot 77 to finish second low on the day and eighth place overall.
The Chieftains also got a 94 from Scott Wilkinson, a 97 from Ken Scott, a 98 from Ken Franz, a 107 from Adam Carlson and a 108 from Kyle Owen.
The Chieftains will now begin preparations for the Division 2 regional tournament which will be held Oct. 10 at Coldwater.
