Dowagiac takes second at invite

The Dowagiac varsity tennis team brought home a trophy Saturday afternoon from the Edwardsburg Invitational.
Dowagiac finished in a second place tie with South Haven with 20 points.
The host Lady Eddies won the championship with 30 points. Constantine was fourth with 11 points.
All of Dowagiac's singles players finished second in the tournament.
Lisa Rubino and Barbara Laing went 2-1 on the day finishing second and No. 1 and No. 2 singles.
Dowagiac's No. 3 and No. 4 singles players, Ashley Urbanski and Ann O'Keefe both were 1-1 in finishing second.
Dowagiac's No. 2 doubles team of Taylor Townsend and Amelia First were second in the tournament, while the No. 3 doubles team of Tiffany Harris and Melissa Recla were third.
Also competing on Saturday were Heather Scanlon and Kristine Swisher at No. 1 doubles and Kelleigh Schau and Ashley DeFord at No. 4 doubles.
Dowagiac travels to Marshall today for a make-up match. On Tuesday the Chieftains host Portage Central in a Big-16 Conference crossover.
