Rangers hold off Brandywine in overtime; Eddies rout River Valley

NILES -- The Cassopolis Rangers gained a measure of revenge against host Brandywine Friday night as it defeated the Bobcats 26-20 in overtime.
Having dropped close games to the Bobcats the last two seasons, E.J. Harris' nine-yard touchdown run in overtime was sweet revenge for the Rangers.
A Brandywine fumble which was recovered by Cassopolis' Kirk Baucom sealed the victory for the Rangers.
Brandywine led 6-0 on a one-yard run by Evan Smith.
The Rangers scored on a 10-yard run by Baucom in the second quarter to send the two teams into halftime tied at six.
Mike Glenn took a 45-yard pass from Ranger quarterback Ashton Danzy to give the Rangers a 14-6 lead in the third quarter. Baucom scored the two-point conversion.
Branywine tied the score at 14 on a nine-yard run and a two-point conversion by Billy Syrette in the fourth quarter.
Danzy gave the Rangers the lead once again on a five-yard run, however, the Bobcats tied the score on a Smith three-yard run to set up the overtime.
The Rangers finished with 319 yards rushing and 39 yards passing, while Brandywine rushed for 320 yards and threw for another 32.

Edwardsburg showed no mercy in rebounding from its loss to Coloma on Friday night.
The Eddies took out their frustrations on visiting River Valley on Homecoming night, 55-7.
The Eddies led 55-0 before River Valley averted the shutout in the fourth quarter.
Derek Tighe scored on runs of two- and three-yards, while Derek Eden added runs of five- and 56-yards.
The Eddies also got touchdowns from Phil Bretschneider (30-yards), Matt Rinehart (one-yard), John Black (one-yard) and Ben Horton.
Anthony Peak was seven of eight on extra points kicks.
River Valley's lone touchdown was scored on a 42 yard fumble return by Randy Deaton.
Edwardsburg's punishing ground game churned out 305 yards on Friday night.
The Eddies also were 6-9 passing for another 118 yards.
River Valley finished with 66 yards rushing and 11 yards passing.
