Jr. High teams remain unbeaten

The Central Middle School eighth grade basketball teams remained undefeated on Monday afternoon with a sweep of South Haven.
Both teams are now 4-0 on the season.
Dowagiac's Orange team edged South Haven, 17-16.
Shardatsha Fritchett led the Chieftains with five points. Lori Key and Jessica Tabbert both finished with four points, while Beth Spaulding and Stephanie Muhe both contributed two points.
The Black team easily defeated South Haven, 43-21.
Katy Stuppy led the way with 13 points, while Beth Williams and Sada Nealey each added 11 points.
Kristy Cooper and Tanisha White each had four points.
Last Thursday Dowagiac swept St. Joseph, 19-10 and 41-7.
The Orange team was led by Fitchett's eight points.
The Black team got 10 points from Cooper and eight points from Nealey. Allison Frontczak chipped in with seven points.
Seventh grade
The Central Middle School seventh grade A team squared its record at 2-2 with a 29-16 win over South Haven Monday night.
Stephanie Grabemeyer led the chieftains with seven points.
Dowagiac also got four points each from Tasia Diaz, Shelby Willis, Kaleigh Hutchings and Brittany Gnatz.
Katie Wood, Ashley Winters and Kayla Ashby each had two points.
The seventh grade was defeated by St. Joseph last Thursday, 17-9.
Hutchings led Dowagiac with four points. Wood added three.
Football
The Central Middle School seventh grade football teams defeated Benton Harbor Charter and Benton Harbor Fairplain in their season openers.
The Black team won 30-0. Dre Kiser, who rushed for 136 yards and had a 47 yard punt return, scored for the Chieftains as did Tim DeRyder and Robert Douglas.
Greg Ferrier had six solo tackles, while Michael Sirk had two quarterback sacks.
The Orange team won 8-0 as Ben Soto scored on a 90-yard run. Robert Jirminson added the two-point conversion.
Jason Bailey had nine solo tackles, while Aaron Caldwell and Jirminson had five solo tackles.
Joe Miller finished with two quarterback sacks.
Dowagiac returns to action on Wednesday as it travels to South Haven.
