Niles wins boys title at Berrien

For the second straight Saturday, the Niles boys cross country team won an invitational.
The Vikings captured first place at the Berrien Springs Shamrock Invitational Saturday morning with a team score of 59. Niles won the Buck Classic last Saturday.
Bangor finished second with 79 and Constantine took third with 93.
Austin Neilson led the Vikings with a time of 17:19 and a fifth-place finish. Trevor Taylor finished eighth overall with a time of 17:35. Logan Todd came in 13th at 17:50 and Charles Nelson finished 15th with a time of 17:57. Steve Scally finished 18th at 18:08 and George Nelson finished 23rd at 18:29.
The Niles girls cross country team finished fifth at the Shamrock Invitational. Paw Paw won the event with a team score of 36. Lakeshore finished second at 51, Edwardsburg third at 73 and Lake Michigan Catholic fourth at 131. Niles scored 157 points.
Elle Gluckert was the top Niles runner, finishing 11th overall with a time of 22:37. Meghen Flynn finished 39th at 25:21. Tami Madison came in 40th with a time of 25:22, Whitney Shearer came in 44th with a time of 25:52, Melissa Wuthnow finished 45th with a time of 25:53. Lindsey Leech finished 48th, Amanda Smith finished 59th and Sarah Barth finished 60th.
The Niles cross country teams will run at the Berrien County Meet, hosted by Brandywine, Saturday at 8 a.m.
