DUHS netters third at Brandywine

The Dowagiac varsity tennis team finished third at the Brandywine Invitational on Saturday.
Paw Paw won the overall team title with 30 points. Brandywine was second with 23 points and Dowagiac third with 15. Niles finished fourth with 12 points.
Dowagiac's Lisa Rubino and Barbara Laing both took second place, while Ashley Urbanski finished third, as did Ann O'Keefe.
Dowagiac's No. 1 doubles team of Heather Scanlon and Kristine Swisher also finished third.

Dowagiac junior varsity soccer team played Paw Paw to a 1-1 tie Saturday at home.
Dowagiac took a 1-0 lead in the 29th minute as Oscar Azevedo crossed a ball to Andrew Cuthbert who found the back of the net. Paw Paw tied the score at 1-1 in the 32nd minute and that's the way the match ended.
Dowagiac had 13 shots on goal with keeper D.J. Ennenser getting credit for nine saves on 11 shots by the Redskins.
Dowagiac is now 1-2-1 on the season.
