COLOMA -- The Edwardsburg Eddies will need some help if they want to share the Lakeland Conference championship again this season.
The defending champions squared off Friday night in the league opener for both schools with the Comets coming out on the positive end of a 46-32 score.
Derek Tighe rushed for 207 yards as the Eddies amassed 300 yards rushing and 111 yards passing.
Matt Rinehart scored twice for the Eddies, who also got touchdowns from Anthony Peak, Nathan Peak and Phil Bretschneider.
Coloma had 224 yards rushing and 188 yards passing.
