Lady Vikes still unbeaten

The Niles varsity basketball team remained undefeated as it beat Harper Creek 59-23 Tuesday night in Battle Creek.
The Vikings, now 6-0, outscored the Beavers 20-2 in the first quarter and held a 35-8 advantage at halftime.
Jessica Johnson and Sarah Dreher each scored 11 points to pace the Vikings offensively. Dreher also led Niles in rebounds with nine and had four steals.
Amber Peters had seven rebounds, six steals and five assists while Ashley Spriggs added four steals and three assists.
Brandie Radde also had seven points and six steals while Kate Whittaker helped out with nine points and seven rebounds.
The Vikings travel to Paw Paw Thursday for the third game of their six-game road trip. The other three games are at Benton Harbor, Dowagiac and Mattawan.
The Niles junior varsity team improved its record to 5-1 with a 46-44 win over Harper Creek. Jessica Shinsky led the Vikings with 13 points. Stephanee Schrader added 12 and Lauryn Gibson scored 10.
