Niles ties Dowagiac

NILES -- Sophomore Lisa Rubino delivered Dowagiac a 4-4 tie with Niles Monday afternoon in Big-16 Conference West Divison action.
The host Lady Vikings held a 4-3 lead in the match due to a sweep of the doubles matches when Rubino took to the court for her No. 1 singles match against Niles' Beth Eisenhart.
Rubino defeated Eisenhart 6-1 and 6-1 to give Dowagiac a sweep of the singles matches and thus a draw.
Dowagiac improved to 1-5-1 with the draw and 0-1-1 in the West Divison. Niles is now 2-3-1 overall and 0-1-1 in the division.
Singles: 1. Lisa Rubino (D) beat Beth Eisenhart, 6-1, 6-1; 2. Barbara Laing (D) beat Annalee Nelson, 6-4, 6-1; 3. Ashley Urbanski (D) beat Mallory Zeigert 6-1, 6-1; 4. Ann O'Keefe (D) beat Christine Hadley 6-2, 6-1.
Doubles: 1. Heather Dudka-Nicole Negron (N) beat Kristin Swisher-Heather Scanlon, 6-2, 6-2; 2. Sam Beck-Danielle Lowery (N) beat Amelia First-Taylor Townsend 6-4, 6-2; 3. Jena Williams-Andrea Clabaugh (N) beat Tiffany Harris-Ashley Deford 6-1, 6-2; 4. Katie Blaskie-Nicole Weber (N) beat Kelliegh Shaus-Melissa Reda 7-5, 6-2.
