Dowagiac JV 4th at golf jamboree

The Dowagiac junior varsity golf team rounded out the field Monday at The Oaks with a team total of 229.
Richie Hutchinson led the way for Dowagiac with a 46. Jeremy Shank brought in a 55, while Austin and Cameron Lawrence scored a 63 and 65 respectively.
St. Joe finished in first place with a total of 174. Lakeshore, 189, and Niles, 216, finished second and third respectively.
St. Joe's Brett Neuman earned medalist honors with a 42.
Punt, Pass &Kick
Dowagiac's annual Punt, Pass &Kick competition will be held at Chris Taylor-Alumni Field on Sunday, Sept. 21.
The competition, sponsored by Pepsi, the National Football League and the Dowagiac Lions Club, is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
Registration for the event is going on now at all Dowagiac schools. Entry forms are available at all the school offices.
Registration deadline is noon on Friday, Sept. 19.
The competition is open to both boys and girls ages 8-15 (by Dec. 31, 2003).
There are eight age divisions to compete in. The top finisher in each division will advance to Sectional competition.

Golf for Goods
In lieu of green fees, a donation of two non-perishable food items, a clean winter coat or unopened toy will be collected to benefit the St. Vincent DePaul Society of Holy Maternity.
There will also be contests and prizes throughout the day. Carts are not included. Tee times will start at 8 a.m. Reservations may be made in person beginning Saturday, Sept. 20 or by phone on Wednesday, Sept. 24.
The Miller family has owned and operated Indian Lake Hills for 21 years. In the first three years of collecting donations, they have collected over 1,500 non-perishable food items, 350 articles of clothing and 80 toys.
