The Dowagiac varsity tennis team hung tough with a much more experienced Edwardsburg squad Thursday afternoon in a non-conference match.
The Lady Eddies came away with a 6-2 win over the host Chieftains, however, Dowagiac coach Chuck Rubino was pleased with his squad's efforts.
Barbara Laing and Ashley Urbanski were the two Chieftains to score victories against the Lady Eddies. They defeated Jacky O'Connor and Bethany Hartley in straight sets.
Dowagiac continues a very tough stretch of tennis as it faces St. Joseph next week and then takes part in the Parchment Invitational a week from Saturday.
In junior varsity action, Samantha Harris an Kayleigh Sundman were winners in doubles competition. Mandy Smith and Shawna Davis were defeated in their match.
