Drunken driving arrest

NILES -- A man was arrested in Niles on Monday pending charges of allegedly operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol.
Asa Nathan English, 28, 24010 Hospital Street, Apt. No 1, was arrested after police officers saw a vehicle at the intersection of 10th and E. Main streets driving with a cracked windshield, the police report said.
The officers pulled the vehicle over on Broadway Street and made contact with English.
Officers allegedly saw empty alcohol containers in English's car, and could smell alcohol coming from the subjects breath.
English was arrested and lodged at the Niles City Police Department where he was given a $300.
In other police reports:
Jontue Norel Myers, 23, 424 N. Fourth St., Niles, was arrested at his home on a warrant out of the Niles City Police Department for malicious destruction of property, the police report said.
Myers was booked and lodged at the Niles City Police Department and given a $500.
David Glen Pointer, 41, 1416 Hickory St., Niles, was caught as he was allegedly attempting to steal cable utility services from a roof, the police report said.
Pointer was arrested and booked and lodged at the Niles City Police Department with a $500 bond.
Jeffrey Maxwell Anderson, 23, 2302 Yankee St., Niles, was arrested after officers were dispatched to the Michigan State Police Post 53 to assist with an arrest.
Anderson, who was arrested because of destruction of property valued at less than $200, was brought to the Niles City Police Department where he was booked and lodged.
Bond was set at $500.
