NEW BUFFALO -- The Edwardsburg varsity basketball team got its season off to a good start with a 36-34 victory in the opening round of the New Buffalo Invitational on Monday.
Edwardsburg led 7-4 after one period of play, but trailed 19-17 at the intermission.
The Lady Eddies (1-0) outscored New Buffalo 19-15 in the second half to rally for the victory.
Meaghan Sweeney led the Lady Eddies with six points and four assists. Shana Stoops also scored six points and grabbed seven rebounds. Shelley Roberts added five points. Joanna Martino and Megan Moyer each tallied four points.
Alisa Rahm led all scorers with nine points.
The Lady Eddies returned to action on Wednesday when they compete in the second round of the New Buffalo Invitational.
No opponent was known at press time.
