The Niles Athletic Booster Club leads off the 2003-04 season for Niles parents, coaches and supporters on Wednesday in the Niles High School cafeteria at 7 p.m.
The Niles Athletic Booster Club is made up of enterprising parents, coaches and volunteers who raise funds and volunteer creatively for Niles' athletes.
Boosters sponsor tailgate parties, concessions during home athletic events and a dinner/dance auction. More than 5,000 volunteer hours were donated last year alone. If you haven't been to a Booster Bash, then you're missing out, athletically speaking.
If you enjoy cheering for the Vikings, cheering on our athletes is what Boosters is all about. The Boosters distribute yard signs to Niles athletes, recognize scholar athletes and provide apparel to be purchased by athletes and fans.
As parents, as fans, as former Vikings and as new Vikings, we come together to give our athletes the boost they need by raising additional monies for all sports teams' needs and requests. Over the past six years, Boosters has donated more $70,000 in equipment and apparel to the athletic programs at NHS.
New officers are Valerie Tanke, President; Marsie Smith, Vice President; Mary Bouwkamp, Secretary; and Sue Majerek, Treasurer. All returning Team Representatives are asked to bring your binders to the meeting in order to update the information.
We cordially invite any new NHS parents, friends and supporters to join our Booster meetings held the third Wednesday of every month at 7 p.m. in the NHS cafeteria. Membership is only $10 and this helps support our programs and teams.
Booster Club members will receive special giveaways this year, including a bag of popcorn on Sept. 12; a candy bar on Oct. 30; a drink on Dec. 18; a hot dog on Jan. 28; and a bag of popcorn on Feb. 17.
It's SHOWTIME for the Viking athletes. As Boosters, let's have some showmanship of our own. Let's SHOW our athletes that we are behind them for the 2003-04 season.
