CASSOPOLIS -- With hesitation and regret, the Cassopolis Schools Board of Education Monday evening accepted the resignation of John Ostrowski, its superintendent for the last 10 years.
Ostrowski will begin his new position as superintendent of the Lewis Cass Intermediate School District (LCISD) on Oct. 1.
Ron Mousel, the former ISD superintendent who has been interim superintendent of the district since the resignation of Kevin Magin, said he is "delighted," with the appointment of Ostrowski.
Ostrowski has 34 years of educational experience and has been both an elementary and secondary teacher. He has also been a reading consultant and elementary principal.
When he was assistant superintendent of Willow Run Public Schools, he was in charge of all curriculum and federal projects. Ostrowski has also had extensive experience in the Effective Schools Movement and is currently a member of the Superintendents Institute of America, as well as the Effective Schools League.
Mousel added that Ostrowski's 10 years residence in the community "demonstrates his strong commitment to the students, parents, employees and local school districts of LCISD."
Ostrowski praised the Cassopolis Board of Education, which has begun seeking an interim superintendent.
He promised to "give the district any support it needed.
