Zache earns All-World honor

Kelli Zache a member of the Great Lakes Lightning fastpitch travel softball team was named to the All World Team at the USSSA 16-Under fastpitch World Series held at Canton July 28 through Aug. 3.
Zache was one of 15 players to earn the honor out of a field of 1,000 players with 96 teams represented from the United States and Canada.
Zache lead the Lightning to a fourth place finish by pitching the last 7 1/2 of 11 games.
The Great Lakes Lightning team based out of Lakeshore earned their berth to the World Series by winning three (3) Class A tournaments this summer.
The Lightnings record is 36-3-1 with the last of the summer games to be played this weekend at Petosky.
Zache is joined on the Lightning team by area standouts Mandy Parish of Dowagiac, Brittney Collins of Hartford, Helena Zandarski and Ashley Mannino of Coloma, Katie Botzys and Kelly Lewis of Portage Central , Monica Gathright, Amanda Harrington, Stacey Jones and Jaci Sandberg all of Lakeshore.
Zache, also a freshman starter from the Brandywine 2003 State Runner-up high school softball team boasts a 3.75 grade point average at Brandywine High School.
