Lisa Rubino claims first city tennis crown

The charge of the youth bridgade interrupted Sue Watson's attempts to win a 12th Dowagiac City Tennis Tournament singles championship this past weekend.
Jennifer Sherman, a senior-to-be at St. Joseph, upset Watson in the semifinals, 6-4 and 6-0.
Sherman then lost in the championship match on Sunday morning to sophomore-to-be Lisa Rubino, 6-2 and 6-2.
Rubino reached the finals with a 7-5 and 6-4 win over Elyse VerBerkmoes.
Sherman was the lone player with a first round match as she dispatched Corinne Fleming.
The men's, women's and mixed doubles tournaments will be contested on Saturday and Sunday.
The men's and women's tournaments will be played on Saturday with the mixed doubles tournament set for Sunday.
