The Great Lakes Lightning 14 and Under Girls Fastpitch Softball team won its first three games at the USSSA World Series National Championships held at Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Fla.
The Lightning defeated the Virginia Chain Reaction 12-0; then beat the Arizona Prodigy 8-2; and finally the Chicao Outburst 7-1.
The Lightning take on the Virginia Beach Hawks in double elimination play on Thursday, Aug. 31.
In the 8-2 win over the Arizona Prodigy, Niles' Stephanee Schrader led the Lightning with two singles.
