Raklovits snags city golf title

NILES -- Greg Raklovits shot a four-over-par 148 over two days at Plym Park Golf Course to take home the 2003 City Golf Tournament championship.
Raklovits shot 74 both days to beat the next closest competitor by five strokes in the Men's Championship Flight.
Scott Meese was the championship runner-up with a two-day score of 153. Bruce Williams, Steve Sheldon and Jim Butler each shot 154 to tie for third place.
Rose Prenkert won the Women's Championship Flight with a two-day score of 187. Amanda Brewington finished second with 190 and Sherry Brewington took third place with 209.
Dave Hinegardner won a playoff with Rod Churchill to win the Men's A Flight. Both turned in a two-day score of 162. Don Maynard finished third with a score of 166.
Paula Barker won the Women's A Flight with her score of 203 and Kay Noble finished second with 212.
Tracy Brewington won a playoff with Bob Coquillard to win the Men's B Flight. Both shot 180 for the weekend. Willis Maxwell and Mike McKeel each shot 182 to tie for third place.
Stan Williams took first place in the Men's C Flight with a score of 182. Lyle Martell finished second with a score of 202 and Dave Ellert took third place with a score of 203.
Larry Saunders won the Senior Championship Flight with a score of 173. Dick Noble finished second with 175 and Ed Ralston finished third with 176.
Ray Neldon and Bruce Dustin tied for first place in the Senior Flight as each shot 183. Gary Gitchell shot 192 to finish third.
On Friday, the course hosted the Junior Golf Tournament and awarded winners in four age groups.
Joe Sobieralski took first place in the 16-17 age group with his round of 89. Cody Miller finished second at 92 and Larry Simpson finished third at 150.
In the 14-15 age group, Nick Horn and Scott Majerek each shot 46 to tie for first place. Chris Haas finished third with 53. Steve Garland, Danny Roats and Jonathan Smith each shot 57 and Paul DePoy shot 60.
Jeff Jurgonski won the 12-13 age group with his score of 44. Ryan Hopper took second with a 56.
Brett Phillips won the 10-11 age group with a score of 63. Hugh Hatcher finished second with 67 and Chad Majerek finished third with 72.
