F.O.P. 10-year-olds still unbeaten in district

The Niles F.O.P. Little League 10-year-old All-Stars continued their win streak in the Michigan District 15 Tournameny by defeating Centreville 7-5 at Schoolcraft Thursday night.
Leading the way offensively for F.O.P. was Kelvin Tweedy with a triple and a single. Montrel Merritt added a double and a single. Rashad Harris, Dustin Craig and Justin Hughes each helped out with a single.
David Gardner earned the win on the mound for the F.O.P. All-Stars.
The 10-year-olds return to District Tournament action Monday at Vicksburg against either Vicksburg or Lawton at 6 p.m.
Howard Township 9-year-olds
off to good start at Eaton Park
The Howard 9-year-old All-Star team opened with a 16-5 win at the Eaton Park Tournament over Lakeshore.
Zack Webber went 3-for-4 at the plate. Taylor Campbell, Cody Beers, Zack Fillwock and Matthew McLaughlin each had two hits. Bryan Reed and Alex Grishaber each had a hit.
All team members contributed to the win with great defense and baserunning.
The All-Stars will face Paw Paw on Sunday at noon.
Niles F.O.P. 12-year-olds
begin quest for sectional title tonight in Dowagiac
The Niles F.O.P. 12-year-old All-Stars begin sectional tournament play tonight at Dowagiac.
Niles will take on Westwood at 6 p.m. tonight in the first game of the best-of-three series.
The second game of the tournament will be played Saturday at Dowagiac at 11 a.m. The third game, if necessary, will be played Monday at 6 p.m. at Dowagiac.
All games are played at Russom Field.
