F.O.P. 10-year-olds open district play with 12-2 win

The Niles F.O.P. Little League 10-year-old All-Stars opened District 15 Tournament play by defeating Mendon 12-2 at Coloma Tuesday evening.
Leading the way for F.O.P. offensively was Kelvin Tweedy with a double and two singles. Evan Zimmerman added a double and a single while Dustin Craig, Montrel Merrit and Justin Hughes each hit a double.
Rashad Harris and Nathaniel Oates each added a hit to help out.
David Gardner helped the offense as he stole six bases for the 10-year-olds.
Nick Lucero shut down the Mendon offense and earned the pitching victory.
The 10-year-olds return to District 15 action tonight in Schoolcraft when they take on Centreville at 6 p.m.
