Steve's Run is an outstanding annual event for Southwest Michigan and the entire Michiana area.
Saluting cancer survivors and raising money for the Mayo Clinic Cancer Research and the Steven Briegel Scholarship Fund is what sets this race apart from all the other 5K and 10K races that are held throughout the summer.
Steve's Run also happens to be set on a beautiful course that takes runners through city streets, a golf course and even around a cemetery. It is both challenging and interesting for all participants.
Steve's Run raises money not only through its entry fees but also through other incentives. Runners and walkers can obtain sponsors for the race and receive prizes based on how much they raise. Fire Up signs are also sold to encourage runners along the way.
The post-race festivities are second-to-none and are sure to make the race participants comfortable after a good workout.
Steve's Run is a race nobody should miss. It has been voted one of the Ten Great Vacation Races in the USA by "The Runner" magazine in 1982. Beyond that, it is a great benefit to cancer survivors and those seeking to beat the disease.
Steve's Run is scheduled for Saturday, July 26, in downtown Dowagiac.
