CASSOPOLIS -- Cass County Sheriff Joseph M. Underwood Jr. reports his office handled a single-car personal-injury accident at 6:04 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, on M-62, near Twin Lakes Road.
The accident occurred when a vehicle driven by Tate Shaffer, 25, of Mishawaka, Ind., left the roadway, striking a fence and culvert.
The vehicle was traveling south on M-62 in LaGrange Township.
Shaffer was taken to Dowagiac's Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital, where he was treated for his injuries and released.
Shaffer was the sole occupant of the vehicle, the sheriff said.
The driver was wearing his safety belt.
Alcohol does not appear to have been a factor.
Assisting on the scene were Dowagiac fire and ambulance personnel.
The crash remains under investigation.
