NILES -- A new public hearing date has been set for an Elkhart, Ind., woman who wants to open an adult business with topless dancers on South 11th Street in Niles Township.
The hearing will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 10, in the Carlson Lecture Hall at Brandywine High School.
Teresa Kreighbaum of 26551 Hampton Woods Drive, Elkhart, Ind., has applied for a license to operate an adult business in Niles Township, as well as the transfer of a liquor license with permit allowing topless dancing.
The hearing was originally scheduled for June 23. However, Kreighbaum, whose business is named TSK Inc., withdrew her application.
Bill Myers, Niles Township supervisor, said at the time, the applications were withdrawn because they did not adhere to township ordinances.
Kreighbaum is represented by Attorney Robert N. Feldman of Niles. She wants to open a bar and restaurant at 2622 S. 11th St., which would provide a dance area featuring burlesque shows with topless male and female dancers.
On May 5, the Niles Township board of trustees denied an earlier request by Kreighbaum for the transfer of the liquor license.
At that meeting, a swell of area residents opposed to the opening of the topless dance club pleaded with township officials to do everything within their legal authority to prevent it from opening here.
