South County Vikings split last three doublheaders

The South County Vikings baseball team split its last three doubleheaders.
On Wednesday the Vikings split a twinbill with Kalamazoo Central in the Kalamazoo 16 and under wooden bat league. Central won the first game 3-2 but the Vikings came back for a 4-3 win in the second game.
Mason Stephenson took the loss for South County in the opener and four defensive errors didn't help his cause any. Stephenson gave up just three hits and struck out four.
Adrian Davis led the Vikings at the plate with three hits. Nick Downing hit a double while Rick Storm, Josh Henry and Joey Townsend each added a base hit.
Anthony Saviano picked up the mound victory for South County in the second game as he threw a complete-game two-hitter.
Henry led Niles at the plate with two triples. Downing added a double and a single while Davis had two hits as well. Saviano and Michael Tanke each had singles. Tanke hit the game-winning RBI.
On Monday the Vikings also split with the Kalamazoo Junior Maroons in another wooden bat league doubleheader.
Stephenson took the loss on the mound for South County in the opener. He gave up just five hits and the Vikings committed five defensive errors.
David Walterhouse led South County with two singles. Storm, Davis and Cory Coquillard each added a hit.
The Vikings rebounded for a 4-2 win in the second game as Saviano earned the pitching victory with relief help from Davis in the fifth inning.
Storm led the Vikings offensively with two singles. Drew Donahue added a double while Walterhouse and Saviano each had one hit.
The Vikings split a doubleheader with Lakeshore last weekend in Stevensville.
Lakeshore won the first game 4-3 but the Vikings came back for an 8-1 rout in the second game.
Matt Richardson took the loss for South County in the first game. He struck out seven in his first start.
Cory Coquillard had a double and two RBIs to pace the Vikings at the plate. Rick Storm, Josh Henry and Adrian Davis each added two singles.
In the second game Davis earned his second win for the Vikings as he gave up just two hits.
Davis and Mason Stephenson each singled for South County while Coquillard chipped in with another double.
