Singleton wins
Dowagiac's Chris Singleton tossed a two-hitter for the Royals in his Niles Babe Ruth League opener.
The Royals won 3-2.
Singleton struck out 10 and walked just two in going the distance in picking up the victory.
Singleton, who tied a Dowagiac High School record by being hit eight times this past season, was hit in the elbow, but was able to continue.
He also played well defensively, including when he was struck in the leg by a line drive, but was able to pick up the ball and despite slipping onto his back, able to throw out the runner.
In the second game of the doubleheader, Singleton went 2-for-4 with an RBI as the Royals won, 8-6.
