Dowagiac players receive Big-16 honors

Several Dowagiac athletes have been honored by the Big-16 Conference in soccer and track.
The post season awards in several other sports have yet to be released by the league.
Dowagiac landed three players on the first team of the All-West Division in soccer.
Selected to the first team were Danielle Boyd, Ashley Brewer and Hillary Bisnett.
Ashley Caldwell was an honorable mention selection.
Boyd, Brewer and Bisnett were also honorable mention selections on the Big-16 All-League squad.
Joining Dowagiac's trio of players on the first team were honorary captain Stacey Stickney of St. Joseph, Amber Peters of Niles, Sabrina DeLong of Lakeshore, Wagner Mathew of St. Joseph, Laural Depta of Lakeshore, Amanda Gilbert of Niles, Kaitlyn Becker of St. Joseph, Nicole Stusick of Lakeshore, Elizabeth Marshke of St. Joseph, Allison Stusick of Lakeshore, Mary Schreneman of St. Joseph, Darnisha McComb of Benton Harbor and Elazabeth Elsner of Benton Harbor.
Coach of the Year was Niles' Denise Peters.
Niles landed four players on the honorable mention portion of the squad.
They were Elle Glueckert, Rachel Storm, Ashley Pingel and Kaylee Bonner.
Peters and Gilbert were All-League honorable mention picks.
Dowagiac's J.J. White was the lone representative on the All-League men's track and field squad.
