Mother, son arrested in fracas

Dowagiac Police Department officers arrested two people for resisting police and disorderly conduct, Police Chief Tom Atkinson reports.
This incident occurred Tuesday, June 3, at approximately 11:10 p.m.
City police were called to the 100 block of E. Prairie Ronde for a possible fight in progress.
Officers investigating the incident located a person at the scene who was wanted on a warrant out of Dowagiac.
When officers attempted to arrest the 18-year-old male subject, he resisted and was pepper sprayed by police.
The subject was then taken into custody. During this incident the male subject's mother, a 37-year-old Dowagiac woman, began yelling at police and was arrested for disorderly conduct.
The male subject was lodged at the Cass County Jail on the resisting and obstructing police and the outstanding warrant.
The female was lodged at the Cass County Jail on a charge of disorderly conduct.
Police withheld names pending arraignment in Fourth District Court.
