Young South Bend, Ind., man receives his last chance to stay out of prison

CASSOPOLIS -- Chad Michael Bigelow, 19253 Hamilton St., South Bend, Ind. has "no respect for people's property," new Cass County Prosecutor Victor Fitz told Cass County Circuit Court Friday. "Six times he went in … like shopping at K mart." On Oct. 16, 2002, he, with two other individuals, stole rifles and a shotgun at a property on Brush Road in Cass County.
Bigelow "seems to be on a mission to get to prison," said Judge Michael E. Dodge.
For attempted home invasion in the second degree, Bigelow at age 19 was given his "last opportunity to stay out of prison."
He will be able to serve his 270 days in the Cass County Jail sentence at the Twin County Probation Center. He has credit for 51 days.
He is also to pay $60 DNA fee, $60 to the Crime Victims' Fund, $450 court costs and $250 attorney fees. In other sentencings:
On Oct. 25, 2002, Cass County's drug team went to a pole barn on her property which she rented out, to investigate a possible drug lab.
She saw the police and left, Dodge said. "Methamphetamine has no place in our community," added Fitz, mentioning the danger also to the police officers.
Nelson has been attending parenting classes and has undergone counseling, added her attorney, Dale Blunier of Edwardsburg.
She was sentenced to 90 days in the Cass County Jail, with one day credit, which is suspended to the end of her two-year probation.
She is to pay a $60 DNA fee, $60 to the Crime Victims' Fund, $450 court costs, $350 attorney fees and a $150 lab fee.
For possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, Fricke was sentenced to the Michigan Department of Corrections for three years to 20 years, with 37 days credit.
