Cagle coming to fair

CASSOPOLIS -- Rising country star Chris Cagle will headline the grandstand entertainment for the 2003 Cass County Fair, playing July 28-Aug. 2 at the fairgrounds in Cassopolis.
Cagle's new album, "A Snapshop of Self," debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart and his hit single, "What a Beautiful Day," is at No. 9 on Billboard's Hot Country Singles and Tracks chart.
His debut album, "Play It Loud," has scanned more than 500,000 units.
Other top singles include "My Love Goes On and On," "Laredo" and "I Breath In. I Breathe Out."
Cagle will perform Aug. 1 at 8 p.m.
Other grandstand entetainment includes: demolition derby at 7:30 p.m. July 28 (sedans and minis) and 31 (sedans, powder puff, two-wheel trucks and station wagons), regional and state national tractor and truck pull July 29, Doug Danger and Tim Chitwood's "Legends Stunt Show" July 30 and national bull riding from J Bar Ranch on closing night, Aug. 2.
The 152nd version of the Cass County Fair will run two weeks later than usual.
Fair President Steve Green said the change was necessitated to enable the fair to keep the rides and midway attractions by Mid America Shows.
The change also will take the fair out of competition with the Venetian Festival in St. Joseph and the Elkhart County Fair in Indiana.
Grandstand admission costs $5, with children ages 6 to 12 $1 and those 5 and under admitted free. Daily gate admission to the fair costs $6 for adults, $1 for children ages 6 to 12 and those ages 5 and under free, or $20 for an adult season pass. Parking is free.
