CASSOPOLIS -- Six kegs of beer were confiscated and 19 minor in possession of alcohol citations were issued early Wednesday as Cass County sheriff's deputies broke up a large senior drinking party on Allen Road.
Upon arrival about 2 a.m. May 21, approximately 40 to 50 individuals were observed gathered at a large bonfire.
According to witnesses at the event, many of the participants were soon-to-be graduates of Niles High School.
Investigation continues for possible charges for contributing to the delinquency of minors and property damage. Sheriff Joseph M. Underwood Jr. reminds students and parents that it is illegal to consume alcohol until 21 years of age.
Those providing the alcohol or a place to consume alcohol may be subject to a $1,000 fine or possible time in the county jail.
