The Niles 13-year-old travel team went 2-for-2 in a pair of Kalamazoo League doubleheaders this past weekend.
In the opener on Saturday, Niles defeated the Portage Phillies 10-2 behind the complete game effort of Jake "Goose" Ferguson who limited Portage to two hits.
Leading hitters for Niles were Keith Prak with two hits and Paul Dreher with an RBI double.
In Saturday's second game Niles was blanked 8-0 by the West Michigan Warriors as Jake Ferguson's infield hit was all Niles could muster off of the Warrior pitchers.
On Sunday Niles lost to the West Michigan Wolfpack 11-3 as errors and walks led to the defeat. Nick Fedore pitched well in the loss for Niles while Alex Welch led the way at the plate for the Vikings with two hits.
In Sunday's second game Niles bounced back to defeat the Kalamazoo Lumberkings 10-5. Jamie Simpson got the win with David Ralston pitching three innings to record the save.
Simpson paced the Niles attack with four hits and three RBIs while Prak, Fedore and Ralston had RBI hits for Niles.
The Vikings are now 9-5 overall and 6-3 in league play.
