JV win tourney

The Dowagiac junior varsity softball team captured the South Haven Invitational on Saturday.
Dowagiac did not give up a run in the tournament, defeating Allegan, 18-0; Niles, 11-0; and South Haven in the championship game, 12-0.
Ashley Willis defeated Allegan and South Haven, tossing one-hitters in both contests. Willis struck out 11 against Allegan and struck out 10 against South Haven.
Maureen Pickar struck out eight and tossed a perfect game against Niles.
Among the leading hitters were Amy Wood, Jayme Raabe, Kim Davis, Beth Tomczak and Beth Fryman.
On Monday the Chieftains swept a non-conference doubleheader from visiting Edwardsburg.
The Chieftains took the opening game 4-0 as Willis tossed a no-hitter with 10 strikeouts.
Tomczak had two hits for the Chieftains.
Pickar tossed a two-hitter with five strikeouts in the nightcap as the Chieftains won, 10-0.
Willis had three hits including a double, while Jackie Sayre also had three hits. Raabe contributed a triple.
