Dowagiac topples South Haven, 5-2

The Dowagiac varsity soccer team wrapped up its regular season on Friday with a 5-2 non-conference victory over visiting South Haven.
The win gave Dowagiac an 8-4-1 overall record heading back into the Big-16 Conference Tournament today at Marshall.
Dowagiac is 1-1 currently in the league tournament having defeated Sturgis in the opening round and losing to top-seeded Portage Central on Wednesday.
Dowagiac and South Haven, who were making up a match that postponed earlier in the year, were tied at 1-1 after Ashley Brewer scored the first of here two goals in the opening half.
Brewer opened the second half scoring for the Chieftains in the 61st minute before Danielle Boyd scored the first of her two goals in the 69th minute.
Shannon Potenza tallied in the 76th minute and the Boyd scored in the 78th minute for her 16th goal of the season.
Stephanie Cooper picked up the victory in goal.
