Brandywine extends streak

The Brandywine varsity baseball team extended its winning streak to nine games with a sweep of a non-conference doubleheader with Lake Michigan Catholic Saturday.
Wins of 6-1 and 10-9 lifted the Bobcats' record to 12-14 overall.
Kory Bridges went the distance in the first game for the pitching victory and relieved Chris Carpenter and Zach Bennett for the win in the second game as well.
Matt Koller, Matt Wieger, and Casey Udell each had two hits for Brandywine in the opener. Udell had three RBIs.
Carpenter led the Bobcats with three hits in the second game. Koller, Wieger, Udell and Bridges each had two hits.
The Bobcats host Fennville Wednesday.

Dowling's grand slam lifts Niles over 'Rocks
Ryne Dowling hit a grand slam in the bottom of the seventh inning to give the Niles varsity baseball team a 10-6 win over Berrien Springs Saturday at Thomas Stadium.
Josh Henry also homered for the Vikings and Adrian Davis earned the win on the mound after relieving starter Matt Richardson and reliever Kyle Kidwell in the fifth inning.
The Vikings, now 15-13, travel to Mattawan Tuesday.

Bucks fall short in second Buck Classic
Buchanan dropped a 12-11 decision in the championship game of Saturday's Buck Classic II baseball tournament.
Constantine won the title by scoring one run in the bottom of the seventh inning, and is now 18-5 on the year. Buchanan is 6-16 overall.
The Niles junior varsity baseball team split a pair of games at the tournament, losing 10-2 to Constantine and beating Alegan 12-11.
