It hardly seems like time to start thinking about next fall already but the time has come to get your son or daughter a physical if he or she plans to participate in sports next year.
This year, the physicals will be given on Tuesday, June 3. A new location along with a new procedure will be utilized.
Borgess-Lee Memorial Medical Group is in the process of remodeling a portion of the office building directly behind Taco Bell. The physicals will be given at this location, the future home of Borgess-Lee Memorial Medical Group Pediatrics.
In the past, parents have had to make an appointment for their child's physical. This year, no appointments will be taken and physicals will be done on a first come, first served basis according to the following schedule:
Last names starting with A – L: 2:30 – 4:30; last names starting with M – Z: 4:30 – 6:30
A parent must be present for any child under 18. If a parent is not there, the doctors will not give your child his/her physical.
The cost for the physical is once again $10 which is payable at the time of the physical.
Physical forms are available at Patrick Hamilton, Central Middle School, Union High School, and the athletic office. These forms should be picked up, filled out, and taken to the doctor's office on June 3.
Students are requested to wear shorts and a t-shirt or other loose fitting clothing. Students will be required to provide a urine sample at the office so a full bladder is also necessary.
Dowagiac Union Schools and Borgess-Lee Memorial Medical Group are pleased to be able to offer this service to the athletes of Dowagiac.
It is impossible to avoid conflicts when scheduling this date. If you are unable to take advantage of this "physical day", remember that a student must have a physical prior to any athletic participation. It is also important that parents have the MHSAA physical form.
