Bobcats clinch fifth title

The Brandywine varsity softball team clinched its fifth straight Lakeland Conference title with a sweep of Cassopolis Tuesday night.
The Bobcats, now 26-2 overall and 12-0 in league play, cruised to wins of 12-0 and 10-0. The Rangers dropped to 11-9-1.
Nicki McGowen earned the pitching victory in the first game with relief from Kelli Zache. The two allowed just one hit. Emily Larsen took the loss for Cassopolis.
Nakisha Washington and Emily Christiansen each hit a double for the Bobcats in the first game.
Brittany Bennett picked up the pitching victory for the Bobcats in the second game. She gave up just four hits.
Jessica Keeton hit a triple and Michelle Shoemaker hit a double to lead Brandywine at the plate in the second game.
Brandywine returns to action Saturday at the Clinton Tournament.
