Niles 13-year-old team improves to 4-1

The Niles Junior Baseball 13-year-old travel team improved its Kalamazoo league record to 4-1 with a doubleheader sweep Saturday.
In the first game Niles rallied from a 4-0 deficit to defeat the St. Anne's Crusaders 6-5. David Ralston pitched four innings in relief of Nick Fedore to earn the win for Niles.
Jamie Simpson led Niles at the plate with two hits and two RBIs. Keith Prak added a double and Alex Welch had the game-winning hit in the bottom of the sixth inning.
In the second game Niles beat the North Lincoln Breakers 10-2. Simpson recorded the win with relief help from Ralston and Jeff Jurgonski. Taylor Robson, D.J. Wolnick, Fedore and Welch each had two hits for the Vikings. Niles next plays at Hartford on Tuesday night and returns to Kalamazoo for doubleheaders on Saturday and Sunday.
The Niles 13- year-old team also defeated Watervliet 14-2 on Thursday.
Dan Holland recorded the win for Niles with relief help from Ralston and Welch. Fedore had two hits and four RBIs while Simpson added two hits.
