The Dowagiac varsity soccer team advanced to the second round of the Big-16 Conference soccer tournament with a 2-0 victory over host Sturgis Monday.
Danielle Boyd scored in the 35th minute to give the Chieftains a 1-0 halftime lead. Hillary Bissnet then scored in the 68th minute to seal the victory.
Dowagiac faces top seed Portage Central Wednesday.
