NILES -- A man was arrested in Niles Thursday for possession of marijuana and a parole violation.
Lonce Crishawn Woods, 21, 715 Cass St., Niles, was arrested after officers were dispatched to the 700 block of Cass St., where people were allegedly fighting and being loud, the police report said.
Upon arrival the officers saw seven to 10 people standing in front of the house, most of them allegedly holding open containers of alcohol, the police report said.
The police report said one of the officers allegedly recognized Woods and believed he was on parole.
Until the officers could confirm Woods' parole status, he was handcuffed and placed in the back seat of the patrol car.
The officers later checked Woods for any illegal contraband, the police report said.
The police report said the officers in one of Woods' pants pockets found a white napkin allegedly containing a small amount of marijuana. Before leaving the premises, police searched the ground and found eight clear baggies containing a substance allegedly believed to be crack cocaine.
However, the officers were unable to identify the person who allegedly put the bags on the ground, the police report said.
The police report said Woods was transported to the Niles Police Department.
