Dowagiac's plans of winning the Bryan Frazier Memorial Tournament were knocked off track by Edwardsburg in the opening game on Saturday at Rotary Park.
The Eddies upset Dowagiac 8-7, and then nearly knocked off No. 8 ranked (Division 2) Comstock in the championship game.
Comstock had to work extra innings to take home the winning trophy on Saturday as it edged the upset minded Eddies, 7-6, in eight innings.
Edwardsburg (13-10) scored five times in the top of the first in the opening game to put the Chieftains, losers of four straight coming into the tournament, on their heels.
The Chieftains (17-8) cut the lead to 5-2 with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first, and then took a 7-6 lead in the bottom of the third as they scored five times.
Edwardsburg won the game with two runs in the fourth inning.
Jeff Cooper took the loss in relief of starter Jonathon Bartee, who did not make it out of the first inning.
Zack Rooney picked up the victory for the Eddies.
Dowagiac outhit Edwardsburg 10-9. Richie Burling had two hits and two RBIs, while Cooper was 2-for-3 with a double. Eddie Campbell was 2-for-4 with a double.
Anthony Peak had three hits, while Nathan Peak and Scott Mellen each doubled for the Eddies. Nathan Peak, Rooney and Ben Horton all had two hits for Edwardsburg.
Dowagiac scored five in the first inning of the consolation game and then cruised to victory.
Brandon Zachary improved to 5-1 as he earned the victory.
Matt Stewart went 2-for-4 with a single and a grand slam. Cooper was 2-for-3 with a triple and three RBIs, while Andrew Cummings was 2-for-4 with a double. Dowagiac also got a triple from Matthew Carlson and doubles from Rod Laylin and Richie Burling.
