Chiefs blank Harper Creek

The Dowagiac varsity soccer team improved to 6-1-1 on the season with a 2-0 victory over visiting Battle Creek Harper Creek on Friday.
The Chieftains and Harper Creek were scoreless at the intermission and in a defensive struggle.
Jami Lutz broke the scoreless tie with the game-winner in the 47th minute.
Dowagiac added an insurance goal in the 48th minute as Ashley Caldwell found the back of the net.
Dowagiac played the game without leading scorer Danielle Boyd who broke her finger during the Allegan match.
Dowagiac outshot Harper Creek, 10-4.
Senior goalkeeper Stephanie Cooper recorded yet another shutout.
Dowagiac returns to action today when it travels to Mattawan for a 6:45 p.m. Big-16 Conference match.
