The Niles Optimist Club will hold its Optimist Tri-Star Soccer Skills Contest on Sunday at Ballard Elementary School from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
The contest is free to boys and girls ages 8-12 and will include skills contests in throw-ins, dribbling and shooting.
Participants must wear soft-soled shoes; no spikes, cleats or special kicking shoes will be allowed. Awards will be handed out around 3:30 p.m.

A golf outing to benefit the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life is scheduled Saturday, May 10, at Plym Park Golf Course.
The outing will feature four-person scramble teams with a shotgun start. The entry fee is $60 per person and includes a t-shirt, refreshments, lunch and prizes.
