The Niles Brandywine Girls Softball Association will enjoy greener, healthier outfields as well as dust controlled infields this season.
This past weekend a group of volunteers installed sprinkler systems to both softball fields at Firemen's Youth Park.
It is one more improvement project to the complex which has seen drastic changes in recent years.
Back Yard Irrigation of South Bend, Ind., donated the use of their equipment, tractor, trencher and pullers.
Roberts Plumbing and Heating set the meter and connected to the water main. David Gordon of Gordon Engineering provided the locating.
League coaches Tim Frucci, Dave Ferenczi, Steve Echevarria, Mark Remus, Tammy McIntee, Kelly McIntee and Kelly Low each donated hours of labor to complete the project.
Shawn Low and Steve Adolph coordinated the project and also provided much of the labor.
The Niles Brandywine Girls Softball Association Board of Directors--Jan Gordon, president; Steve Adolph, vice president; Michelle Gibson, treasurer; Deb Carlson, secretary; Dave Fisher, fund raiser--would like to thank all those who volunteered their time and donated their resources as well as the Niles Township Board, Park Board, Dick Noble, Joe Hulett and the Greater Niles Community for supporting girls fastpitch softball.
