Lightning was the only thing that could stop the Dowagiac junior varsity soccer team Wednesday night.
The Chieftains rolled to a 6-0 lead on host Portage Central before lightning put a halt to the match with 12 minutes remaining.
Jordan Markham got the Chieftains rolling with a goal in the third minute of the match.
Dowagiac led 2-0 at the intermission when Markum scored again, this time seven minutes into the match.
In the second half Dowagiac picked up goals from Amanda Fox in the 47th minute, Danielle Caldwell and from Sarah Ostyn in the 55th minute on a cross from Markham.
Markham completed the scoring in the 57th minute as she collected a hat trick.
Dowagiac hosts Buchanan today at 5 p.m.
