DECATUR -- The Library of Michigan Foundation recently announced the appointment of David Tate of Decatur to its board of directors.
Tate, director of Van Buren District Library, will serve on the board until January 2006.
He previously served the Library of Michigan board from 1994 to 2001.
During that time he held the offices of vice chairman and chairman, respectively.
Tate says he is pleased to accept the appointment.
The Library of Michigan Foundation secures private funding for the Library of Michigan to support the availability and accessibility of the Michigan libraries' resources and services for all residents.
Priority programs include special library services for the blind and physically handicapped and cultural and historic preservation of Michigan's printed heritage.
In 2001, the Michigan Library Association honored Tate as its Librarian of the Year. In October he celebrates 25 years of service with the Van Buren District Library.
