Southwestern Michigan College Fitness and Wellness program recently named Emily Krupp, a dual enrolled freshman from Edwardsburg, female student athlete of the month.
Emily is interested in studying business and enjoys intramural volleyball. Emily was a star performer in the intramural basketball league this winter. She played with the Roadrunner men's intramural team and quickly gained respect from all of the male players for her hustle, ball handling and shooting ability.
Ken Goodrich, a second-year student at SMC, from Decatur, was named the male student athlete of the month.
Goodrich participated in the winter semester Shape Up program and lost twenty-nine pounds. Goodrich followed the program rigorously, including the nutritional, strength and cardio-respiratory requirements.
According to Ron Gun, Director of Fitness and Wellness Activities, this is the most weight a participant has lost in the program's six-year history.
Goodrich says his plans for transferring to Western Michigan University might include a serious consideration of changing his major from engineering to nutrition.
