Niles finishes 0-3 at Coloma

The Niles softball team had a tough day Saturday at the Coloma Tournament, finishing 0-3 with losses to Loy Norrix, Coloma and Hudsonville Unity Christian.
The Vikings, now 1-5, opened with a 10-0 setback to Loy Norrix. Crystal Crouch took the loss for Niles. Ashton Parks and Merilee Wuthnow had the Vikings' only two hits of the game. Niles committed six errors against the Knights.
The second game was much better for Niles, forcing extra innings before the host Comets earned a 5-4 win. Kari Eckstein took the pitching loss for Niles. Tasha Lary, Parks, Stephanee Schrader, Nikki Lintz and Jessica Johnson all had hits against Coloma.
Finally, the Vikings suffered a 10-0 setback against Hudsonville Unity Christian. Crouch took another pitching loss while Lary and Kayla Gross had the team's only two hits.
Niles hosts St. Joseph Tuesday for a doubleheader.
